Air driers are applied in pneumatic installations. Moisture, which is present in the air sucked in, because of pressure and temperature changes condenses on the inner walls of the installation and intensifies the process of corosion of metal lines, valves and actuators elements. It also purifies the air from solid contaminants. Another dangerous phenomenon is water freezing during the winter what can even lead to immobilization of crucial mechanisms.
Absorption takes place during the flow of the sucked air through the drier. This means that chemical bonding between the air moisture and a special granulate with strong hygroscopic properties takes place.
A special filtering medium is often used in air driers – a combination of filtration fabric, which stops solid pollutants the sizes of about 0,5 µm efficiently, with special polymer fibres stopping and chemically bonding air moisture.
The application of these driers prolongs life of the pneumatic installations elements up to four times, practically eliminating the corrosion effect inside the system.
