Glue trickle

Reinforced glue trickles are often used in panel air filters construction designed for engines with large displacement volumes and large flows in the intake systems. They provide stabilisation of the filtering pleats in a strong air flow, as well as reinforcement for the filter itself.

In the last few years research performed at the WIX-FILTRON company, concerning products designed for the Original Spare Parts Market led to the development of a new technology of spreading glue trickle. The implementation of such a solution means only advantages for the product.
The new method involves applying the glue on the length of the pleat block slightly shorter than its total length in such a way that the glue trickle is discontinued at the end and at the beginning of the pleat block.

ADVANTAGES RESULTING FROM NEW SOLUTION

- Elimination of the filter puncturing risk
Laboratory tests, performed in extreme conditions, of loading the filter with vibrations and air flow, showed that the filters with the glue trickle slightly shorter than the total length of the pleat block, are more resistant to simulated wear processes up to 20%. The new solution eliminates the theoretical risk of filter unsealing in the place between the glue and polyurethane.

- Optimal utilisation of filtration surface
In traditional solutions, the continuous trickle may cause a surface sealing outflow, which increases the amount of head pleats excluded from the filtration process. The new solution eliminates such danger through reducing the chance of outflows. In this solution, the amount of pleats excluded from the filtration process, is optimally compliant with the designed construction and filter parameters.

- Filter aesthetics improvement
The new solution, involving discontinued trickles improves the aesthetics of the product. In the traditional solutions it is difficult to avoid surface spreads and front shorts of polyurethane in the process of creating the seal. The new solution significantly facilitates controlling the sealing parameters, and as a result improves the filter aesthetics.

- Quick filter installation
The additional effect, resulting from the new method of glue trickles application is a quick filter installation in the casing, especially when its length reaches high dimension tolerances.
